Srinagar : Hurriyat (G) chairman Syed Ali Geelani on Friday protested against  waving of Islamic State flag at Srinagar’s grand mosque on December 28. Hurriyat (G) chairman Syed Ali Geelani  said waving of the flag was an attempt to link “Kashmir’s indigenous struggle with the global terror groups.”

Geelani said this while addressing a gathering over the phone at historic Jamia Masjid where the Joint Resistance Leadership and other religious leaders have gathered to observe Youm-e-Taqadus over the desecration of Jamia pulpit last Friday.

The Awami Action Committee headed by Mirwaiz Umar Farooq has called people to observe January 4 (Friday) as ‘Youm-e-Taqadus’ to condemn the desecration of the mosque by some masked men who waved IS flags from its pulpit last Friday after congregational prayers.

Yesterday, Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF) chief Yasin Malik was arrested to prevent him from leading protests against the desecration of Jamia Masjid. However, Malik was released later in the evening.
