Redwani encounter; slain militants identified

Srinagar: The Jammu and Kashmir Police on Tuesday said that the two militants slain in Redwani gunfight were affiliated with Lashkar e Toiba.

In a statement, police identified the slain as identified as Ajaz Ahmad Makroo son of Late Ghulam Rasool Makroo, a resident of Qaimoh and Waris Ahmad Malik son of Bashir Ahmad Malik, a resident of Arwani.

“As per police records both the killed militants were affiliated with LeT and were wanted by the law for their complicity in a series of crimes including attack on security establishments and civilian atrocities,” a police statement said.

“Ajaz Makroo was a close associate of Naveed Jat and Azad Dada. Several cases were registered against him and the prominent among them include FIR No. 60/2016, FIR No. 45/2017, FIR No. 100/2017, FIR No. 10/2018, FIR No. 13/2018 registered at Police Station Kulgam. Similarly, Waris was also figured in several crimes cases.”
