Srinagar : Kashmir trade body Kashmir Traders and Manufacturers Federation (KTMF) on Tuesday marched towards a Lalchowk to register their protest against killings in Kashmir, especially the recent civilians killings in Kulgam district.

Scores of the trade body members assembled outside the press colony in Lal Chowk and registered their protest against the civilian killings in South Kashmir’s Kulgam district. Pertinently, the Kulgam district is under the morning after an encounter ended up with the killing of seven civilians in Laroo village.

Besides the protest demonstration, the members of the KTMF body also held funeral prayers in absentia for the slain civilians and prayed for their departed souls.

In a statement, Khan who also heads the Kashmir Traders and Manufacturers Federation said: “It is unfortunate that instead of making the Raj Bhawan take measures that would lead the state towards sustainable peace, the Governor’s Advisors playing at the hands of RSS to further the crisis in the embattled state through communal agenda.”

Khan said the controversy is not over just because the orders have been revoked.  “Why where such orders issued in the first place?. Religious scriptures of Muslims, Sikhs, Christians, and Buddhists were not added when JK happens to be a Muslim majority state. The government order of Education Department reflects that Raj Bhawan is working on Hindutva agenda, which is not tolerable this conflict-ridden region,” Khan said.
