Two militants killed in brief shootout in north Kashmir’s Baramulla

Srinagar:  Two militants on Friday were killed in a brief gun-battle near the railway station in this north Kashmir Township.

A police party was checking vehicles near the railway station in Kralhar area of the district when they intercepted two militants travelling in a car, police said.

The militants, they said opened fire upon the search team. “In the retaliatory fire, both militants were killed,” official sources said. They also added that both of them were on their way to Srinagar.

Meanwhile, army, special operations group (SOG) of police have cordoned off the area and restricted the movement of traffic on Srinagar Muzafarabad highway.

“1 UBGL fitted AK 47 and 2 Chinese pistols have been recovered from the spot,” SSP Baramulla Imtiyaz Hussain said.
