Thousands across valley offer funeral prayers in absentia for Manan
srinagar:Thousands of people on Friday staged protests and offered funeral prayers in absentia for the scholar turned militant commander Manan Wani and his associate who were killed in a gunfight in frontier Kupwara district.
In Srinagar, a prote was held by joint resistance leadership against the killing of Mannan Wani and his associate. The protesters led by Sheikh Abdur Rashid were shouting pro-freedom and anti-poll slogans.
Reports of absentia funeral prayers for slain militants were also received from many places Srinagar .
People offered funeral prayers in Beerwah town of Budgam soon after the culmination of Friday prayers.
Reports said that hundreds of persons after coming out of grand mosque assembled in the main town and offered absentia prayers for the slain militants.
In Manan’s native district since early morning, hundreds of people started visiting his to express solidarity with his family. After congregational Friday prayers, people offered prayers in absentia for the slain Hizb commander and his associate at Tikipora.
Prayers were also offered at the grave of slain militant commander in his village. Later, mourners staged a pro-freedom and anti-India demonstration
