In 2 days, Over a dozen youth arrested in Pulwama ahead of civic polls
Pulwama: In the run up to municipal elections, over a dozen youth were arrested by the government forces during a string of raids in multiple villages of south Kashmir’s Pulwama district in past two days.
The youth have been picked up by police in nocturnal raids from Karimabad, Murran, Main Town Pulwama and other areas, locals told today. The arrests have been made in last two days in the build up to upcoming local body elections.
Locals have identified some of the detainees as Arshad Sofi, Muzamil Ahmad, Raju, Manzoor Ahmad, Yawar, Aqib Ahmad, Majid and Azeez Pir.
A senior police officer confirmed the arrests made in the district.
“Some of them are over ground workers and some have been arrested in wake of the elections,” he said.
