Srinagar : The National conference today said that an atmosphere of skepticism and hopelessness surrounds the valley and until and unless India and Pakistan sincerely take bold initiatives and restore the faith in the institution of dialogue, things will become even more complex.

While speaking with diplomats from the German Embassy Mr. Bastian Weber, Second Secretary Political Affairs and Protocol and  Sakshi Aroro Political advisor at his downtown Srinagar residence National conference leader and political advisor to Omar Abdullah, Tanvir Sadiq stressed the need that both the countries continue to engage in a peace process and hold regular Comprehensive Dialogue Process (CDP) and take Confidence Building Measures (CBMs).

Calling the last minute cancellation of Indo-Pak meet as unfortunate Tanvir said “Forces inimical to interests of Jammu & Kashmir have always tried to derail the peace process between India and Pakistan and these barbaric killings of policeman a few days back are a step in that direction. Indo-Pak dialogue process needs to be ring-fenced from incidents designed specifically to derail it.”

He added that India and Pakistan have squandered  many chances to resolve the Kashmir issue, but there are still opportunities. “Any solution cannot be driven by the barrel of the gun. Good sense had to prevail & an era of peace and prosperity has to begin” said Sadiq.

Both India and Pakistan should initiate CBMs to such an extent that there is hardly an iota of suspicion, many lives have been lost and it is time that both understand there is serious urgency in resorting to both Track-II diplomacy and direct engagement” said Tanvir.
