Sania Mirza subjected to eve-teasing by Sabbir Rahman; Shoaib Malik launches a complaint
LAHORE;_Just a few hours after getting excluded from the Bangladesh side for the Asia Cup, Sabbir Rahman was at the receiving end of some other controversy. Pakistani all-rounder Shoaib Malik launched a complaint against the Bangladeshi cricketer, who allegedly teased his wife and popular Tennis star Sania Mirza four years ago.
Winner of multiple Grandslams, Sania Mirza traveled alongside Shoaib Malik four years ago to Bangladesh to participate in a local tournament. If reports in Bangladesh media are to be believed, Malik has launched a complaint against Rahman and has written a letter to the chairman of Cricket Committee of Dhaka Metropolis (CCDM).
A six-month ban lurking around
Sabbir potentially might get banned for six months after his alleged involvement in a Facebook controversy. A case has been registered on a Facebook account bearing his name, where a fan got threatened verbally after he had posted some sarcastic memes mocking the cricketer.
He was also fined by the board during the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) for bringing a woman into the team hotel without any permission from the authority. The right-hander has already lost his central contract and served a six-month domestic ban for assaulting a fan in the recent past.
After bearing so many controversies to his name, Sabbir might potentially face a lifetime ban as reported in of the Bangladeshi media houses. Although there has been no official confirmation coming from the cricket board or any other trustable sources, this news has pretty much become the talking point in the entire country.
Sabbir has represented his National side in 43 ODIs and 39 T20Is and is one of the leading run-scorers in T20 International cricket for his country. Some severe punishments are on cards for the discarded batsman given the allegations against him are proven to be true.
