Authorities likely to exhume body of Langate man killed in Rafiabad gunfight

Srinagar : Authorities are likely to exhume the body of a Langate man killed during a gunfight with the government forces in Rafiabad forests on August 9 after his DNA test matched with his family was found positive.

“Preliminary investigation suggests the body belongs to Langate youth. The exhumation will be started once orders from the district authorities are received,” said a top police official.
All the five militants killed in the gunfight were buried at Hamam in Rafiabad forests. Police had claimed the recovery of a large cache of arms and ammunition from the site of the gunfight.
A family residing in Langate area of frontier district of Kupwara had claimed that their missing son, Muzaffar Ahmad Mir, was among the five slain militants.
Mir, according to his family members, had left his home on August 5 but did not return. A formal missing report was filed by the family members in the nearest police post.
