Private schools flout norms for summer camps

Srinagar: Many private schools have flouted the norms set by Government of Jammu and Kashmir through State Education Department due to the present prevailing situation there would be no summer camps for boys and girls. Government issued a circular recently by virtue of which all the government and private schools have been told not to conduct any summer camps during the present summer season.
Many parents told media that their wards have received forms from the school is filled up for the summer camps and even they have been told deposit the money for these camps. Several parents from Presentation Convent Higher Secondary School Raj Bagh Srinagar told media that their wards have been told to deposit the money for the summer camps. “They have been told to come for the summer camp at Sonamarg. There is not only inclement weather and Amarnath yatra going on, but there is also the danger of any outbreak of water-borne diseases as the water at Sonamarg is not drinkable now. We appeal the authorities to intervene and stop this summer camp”, said one of the parents. Another parents said that they are scared as their daughters will have to stay at Sonamarg in presence of huge security blanket for Amarnath yatra.
A senior officer of State Education Department told this reporter that they will check the matter with the concerned schools and said that strict action would be taken under law if any school will conduct any summer camp in violation of government norms.
