North Kashmir : Four held with arms, drugs in Karnah
Srinagar : Jammu and Kashmir police on Monday said they arrested four persons and recovered drugs and arms from their possession. They were travelling in two vehicles from a border belt.
A police spokesman in a statement said: “continuing its efforts to weed out drug menace from the society, a special team of Police Station Karnah assisted by 124 Bn BSF laid a Naka at Sadpora Karnah.”
“During checking, two Sumo vehicles bearing Registration Nos JK 05-A 4359 and JK 09-8135 were intercepted and upon their search, about 12 kilograms of contraband substance was recovered from the possession of Rafiq Ahmad son of Ghulam Hussain and Zakir Hussain son of Syed Alam both residents of Nawagabra Karnah,” said police spokesman in a statement.
“While carrying out the search of another vehicle JK09- 8135, two persons were found travelling with AK-56 rifles. Upon their detailed search 2 AK-56 rifles, 2 magazines and AK 56 rounds were recovered from their possession,” he said.
“They were identified as Mushtaq Ahmad Malik son of Muzaffar Malik and Shabir Gakhad son of Abdul Rashid both residents of Hajitarah Karnah,” he added.
“All the four persons were arrested and case FIR No 45/ 2018 under section 8/21 NDPS Act 7/25 Arms Act, 13 ULA has been registered in Police Station Karnah,” the police spokesman said.
