Hizb releases a new recruit picture, brother of an IPS officer
Srinagar: Hizbul-Mujahideen on Sunday released the pictures of the new recruits on the second anniversary of the slain commander Burhan Muzaffar Wani.
Among the recruits inlcude the brother of an Indian Police Service (IPS) officer, reported The Tribune. He was identified as Shamsul Haq Mengnoo.
Shamsul Haq Mengnoo, 25, a resident of south Kashmir’s Shopian, was pursuing his BUMS from a government college at Sakura on the outskirts of Srinagar and went missing from May. Shamsul’s elder brother Inamul Haq is 2012 IPS batch officer who is posted in North East.
“Yes, Shamsul has joined Hizbul,” The Tribune quoted a police officer as saying.
The picture of Shamsul holding a gun shows his date of joining militant ranks on May 25, 2018. His code name shown in the picture is Burhan Sani. Over the past two years, it has been a trend of the new age militants they announce their joining by releasing pictures with guns on social media.
“Shamsul is the fourth highly-educated youth to join militant ranks this year. Hizb has reportedly also released pictures of over a dozen other new recruited militants on Burhan’s anniversary,” report said.
Over 50 youth already have joined militant ranks so far this year.
Pertinently, reports said that Sopore youth who was missing for last six months has reportedly joined Hizbul Mujahideen militant outfit.
A purported gun wielding picture of Liyaqat Ahmad Lone son of Ghulam Muhammad Lone of Harwan, Sopore, went viral on social networking site on Saturday, speculating that Liyaqat has joined militant outfit.
Reports said that three youth identified as Zahoor Ahmad Mir of Thayen Kalaroose, Abdul Gani Khawaja of Kralgund Handwara and Furkan Rashid Lone of Langate Handwara have allegedly joined militancy recently.
Quoting a police official, reports said that Zahoor Ahmad Mir was missing since May and a missing report is already registered at the police station Kalaroose.
“A photo has gone viral in which Zahoor can be seen wielding an assault rifle. We are still ascertaining the facts whether he has really joined any militant outfit or not”, a top police official said.
The police sources suspect that the trio may have joined militant ranks months ago.
The pictures have gone viral ahead of top Hizbul Mujahideen Commander Burhan Wani’s second death anniversary.
Earlier this year, a Ph D scholar Manan Wani, a businessman Bilal Ahmad and Tehreek e Hurriyat chief Ashraf Sehrai’s son Junaid Sehrai had also joined militancy. All the three militants hail from Lolab area of Kupwara district
