Civilian injured as forces open fire at protesters in Sopore
Srinagar : A civilian was injured on Monday allegedly in firing by government forces in Chakla village of north Kashmir’s Baramulla district.
An official said that a civilian identified as Abid Manzoor lone, son of Manzoor Ahmed Lone, a resident of Nadihal, the village of Baramulla district has received fire injury in a thigh during a stone pelting incident at Chakla in Baramulla.
A police officer when contacted confirmed the incident and said that the group of students were protesting and has blocked the road in the area.
In the meantime, a CRPF vehicle passed through the area and the protesting students hurled stones on it, he said, adding that the troopers fired some shots resulting in injuries to the student.
Eyewitnesses said that a group of students was protesting against the recent civilian killing in government forces firing in parts of Valley.
The injured student was immediately shifted to Baramulla district hospital where from he was referred to Srinagar for specialized treatment, he said.
