Sunil Sharma launches Rs 50 cr IPDS-PMDP schemes for Budgam

BUDGAM: Minister for Power, Sunil Kumar Sharma today said that the officers should synergize efforts to ensure the successful completion of the projects being undertaken to augment and upgrade the power infra in the state so that the Prime Ministers’ vision of providing uninterrupted supply of power to the people is realized.
The minister was addressing a huge gathering after laying foundation stone of 6.3 MVA receiving station at Chrar-e-Sharieftown in Budgam.
Minister for Revenue, Ghulam Nabi Lone Hanjura was also present on the occasion.
The project will be constructed under Prime Minister’s Developmental Plan (PMDP) at the estimated cost of Rs 1.75 crore to cover peak load demand of power supply across Chrar-e-Sharieftown.
Deputy Commissioner Budgam, Mohammad Harun Malik, Chief Engineer Projects ErDaljeet Singh, Chief Engineer Maintenance, Chief Engineer System and Operations and other functionaries from PDD were also present on the occasion.
While emphasizing on the early completion of the construction work on receiving station project, minister stressed on concerned officials to ensure the project is completed within six months and made functional in the stipulated time period.
While addressing a public gathering, minister said not only the state but also the central government was keen on the development power scenario in the state.
He informed that central government was providing ample funds to complete the construction of all the power development related projects in Jammu and Kashmir on fast track bases.
He said that Chrar-e-Shariefreceiving station was fifth of its kind as earlier foundation stone of four such receiving stations has been laid in other districts under the PMDP scheme.
He said that power supply would be revamped with distribution of new transformers, new poles and wires under the scheme.
The concerned were directed to complete the work of power infrastructure development within two years’ time as its set deadline under IPDS-PMDP in Budgam.
Meanwhile, minister also announced that Rs. 1 crore would be sanctioned for the augmentation of transformers.
Speaking on the occasion, Minister Hanjura said that total amount of Rs 23 crore would be spent for the Budgam district under PMDP. He said that three new receiving stations would be set up at BataporaRangar and Pakharpora under DeendayalUpadyai Jyoti Karan Yojna.
The minister said that present dispensation is committed on the development and to address the public demands vis a vis health, education, power and supply of drinking water to them.
Hanjura urged people to be part of their commitment with their contribution in maintaining peace in the Valley. He said that peace is imperative for undertaking the developmental initiatives and we should all collectively work for its sustenance.
The ministers were briefed that with the commissioning of the receiving station the capacity of power distribution for Chrarshareef town would become 1320 A against the winter peak load of 1146 A. Officials informed that the receiving station would cater to the uninterrupted power supply demand by consumer in the town.
On the occasion, ministers also launched PMDP (urban) and Integrated Power Development Scheme (IPDS) schemes for circle Budgam covering six towns of the district including Budgam, Khanshab, Beerwah, Chadoora, Magam and Charshareef. The launch of twin centrally sponsored scheme would give flip to the power sector and will revamp electrical infrastructure and would ensure distribution of quality power supply to the consumers across Budgam.
Under these schemes an amount of Rs. 50 crores would be spent for the development of better power infrastructure in the district.
The development of infrastructure will include the stabilization of existing 11KV lines, installation of new distribution transformers to relieve existing overloaded ones, besides stabilization of LT network and to minimize the distribution losses to ensure not only quantity but also quality supply of power to the consumers.
