No compromise on safety, security of school children: Zulfikar

Srinagar,: Chowdhary Zulfikar Ali the new Education Minister here on Thursday said that government won’t compromise on the safety and security of children and will firmly deal with those trying to disturb school children within the school premises or outside.
Talking to Kashmir News Service (KNS), Zulfikar said “teachers are builders of nation and I have great respect and regard for them but at the same time children are our future and it is the responsibility of teachers to shape their future well.”
The education minister said that government won’t tolerate harassment of children from either side and parents of school children have also to play a constructive role for the measures government would take for the security and safety of children.
Appealing people to cooperate with the government in giving children a peaceful atmosphere for education, Zulfikar said “no religion allows people in any part of the world the stoning of school busses or school premises. We won’t allow anyone to disturb the school children and people attempting to commit physical assaults on children won’t be spared at all.”
In reply to a question on the possibility of change in examination session from November to March in Kashmir valley, Zulfikar said “I will by and large follow the policies pursued by my predecessor Syed Altaf Bukhari.”
On shutting down of coaching centres the education minister said “I will take a decision after going into the causes of closure of tuition centres and a decision suiting both the children and the managements of tuition centres will be taken in consultation with all stakeholders.” (KNS)
