Alleged Love Triangle: Three students of Kashmir University’s Law Department injured in scuffle

Srinagar,: At least three students of Kashmir University’s Law Department were injured on Thursday during a scuffle between the students of the department. Sources said that the injured students have been shifted to SKIMS for treatment where among them one student namely Aqib Muzzafar is being operated.
Sources told Kashmir News Bureau (KNB) that during a scuffle Kashmir University’s Law Department 6th and 8th-semester students this morning resulted in injuries to at least 3 students of the department. During the scuffle at least 10 female students were fainted and were referred for first aid treatment.
“There was a heated argument on Wednesday between 6th and 8th semester of Law department over the alleged love triangle. Today morning a group of youth with majority of 8th-semester students indiscriminately attacked the students of 6th semester of the department resulting severe injuries to one Aqib Muzzafar, S/O Muzzafar Ahmad of Batpora Hazratbal, aged 23-24 yrs,” a student of the department said pleading anonymity, adding, the assailant student namely Rehaan Gowhar is believed a member of NSUI and backed by some politicians.
When KNB contacted the University officials they said a high-level committee has been constituted to ascertain the cause of the incident, adding, it will submit its report within 2 days with specific recommendations for further action in the matter.
Demanding the safety of students, Umair Ronga, one of the senior students of Law Department talking to KNB said that such incidents are sheer condemnable and disturbing the class work of, adding, such incidents give a reason to the police and forces to enter in the varsity.
Meanwhile talking to KNB, SHO Nigeen Police Station Mr. Riyaz Ahmad denied the reports of any arrests in the incident. He said Police is asserting the facts and will act accordingly. (KNB)
