10 persons reportedly held involved in SMHS shootout.

Ten persons allegedly OGWs were arrested last night in Pulwama district of south Kashmir in connection with SMHS shootout that left two policemen dead while LeT commander Naveed Jaat escaped. Courtesy: Alamy Official sources told GNS that Special Operation Group of police from Srinagar during separate night raids arrested the seven persons in the district. Seven of the ten arrested persons have been identified as Shakeel Bhat of Lelhar, Tika Khan of Singo Narbal, Jan Mohammed Ganie of Krisigam, Javid Rather, his brother Manzoor Rather of Bebgambagh, Shakeel Wani of Singoo Narbal and Syed Tajamul of Pahoo. SSP Pulwama Mohd Aslam Choudary confirmed that the persons were arrested by the police team from Srinagar. However, he denied divulging the further details with regard to the case. A top police officer said that SIT team, probing the incident, identified the persons through CCTV footage as well as looking into other angles including their conversation on social media. The officer said that four among them had come to SMHS hospital while two fired upon police others were covering them. The police have also seized a bike allegedly used by militants for fleeing from the area and is present with police station Kakpora, Pulwama. Asked whether the arrested include Naveed Jaat, the officer feigned ignorance. However, sources said that Naveed is still at large. They said that police is conducting multiple raids to arrest him. On Tuesday, militants’ attacked an escort party of police at SMHS leading to the killing of two policemen while Lashkar-e-Toiba commander Naveed Jaat alias escaped, who was under detention from last nearly four years.
