251 weapons snatched in three years by militants in J&K
SRINAGAR,: 251 weapons, including AK-47, self-loading rifles (SLR) and INSAS rifles, were snatched by militants in Jammu and Kashmir in last three years, Jammu and Kashmir legislative assembly was informed today.
The weapons include 35 AK rifles, 43 SLRs, 44 Insas, 12 pistols with magazines and 102 grenades were looted from security forces in last three years.
This was informed Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti in Legislative Council while replying to a question raised by BJP member Vikram Randhawa.
The reply further stated that out of 251 weapons and ammunition, 76 items have been recovered and 90 accused persons have been arrested.
The reply further stated that Rs 1,13,05,144 was looted in 13 cases of bank robbery during 2016-17. An amount of Rs 1,99,000 was recovered during the period.
The chief minister informed that FIR has been lodged in all these cases and the investigation is going on besides challan has been produced before court of law against the five accused.
