Two militants killed in Kokernag encounter
Srinagar: Two local militants were killed in an ongoing encounter with security forces in Larnow area of Kokernag in south Kashmir’s Anantnag district on Tuesday.
The firefight commenced during search operation when the militants fired towards the forces at Larnoo –Kokernag this morning, army sources said.
They said the operation was going on when last reports were received.
Sources said that one of the slain militants has been identified as Mohammad Furhan Wani, son of Ghulam Mohammad Wani. Wani, according to sources, was active since June 2017.
The encounter comes a day after one militant was killed in a similiar gunfight in central Kashmir’s Budgam district on Monday. Two militants reportdely escaped from Monday’s encounter.
