State BJP unit is in favour of providing amnesty to the stone pelters booked by police in earlier incidents like year 2008 and 2010. Sate spokesman Anil Gupta told media that they were in favour of enhancement in the scope of amnesty so that more youth in Kashmir valley get respite and enter into main stream. State BJP unit has said that there should be more steps taken for the peace and prosperity of all the three regions of the state and said that Kashmir valley should be peaceful for this equitable development.
The state government on the instructions of union home ministry has started the process of providing amnesty to the youth booked for stone pelting incidents post Burhan Wani killing in 2016. The youth who were booked by police during the agitations of year 2008 and 2010 recently held protests in Srinagar asking government to give them amnesty also from these cases. Hundreds of these youth have not been able to apply for any government job as they have dozens of FIRS against them in different police stations. Most of these youth could not even get the passport due to adverse police reports against them.
A senior police officer said that to enhance amnesty to them was under active consideration of the government but the decision would be taken at the highest level.
