Christmas celebrated in Kashmir

The Christmas, birthday of Jesus Christ, was on Monday celebrated across the Kashmir Valley with religious fervour and gaiety despite chilly weather conditions.
Governor N N Vohra, Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti and former chief minister Omar Abdullah greeted people on the occasion.
The celebrations began with midnight mass prayers in Churches in summer capital, Srinagar, which recorded the coldest night of the season at minus 4.
1 degree, and other parts of the Valley, including world famous ski resort of Gulmarg.
The church at Gulmarg, where ski slopes are under several feet of snow, witnessed a good gathering of tourists at the midnight mass, including foreigners.
