In response to hartal severe restrictions announced on Wednesday

Joint Resistance Leadership on Wednesday has told people of Kashmir to observe general strike against the alleged excesses and killings of civilians at Kupwara and shopian. The response of the government has been to impose restrictions in Srinagar to prevent anti government protests.

Police on Tuesday evening said that there would be restrictions in jurisdiction of seven police stations of Srinagar including all police posts of old Srinagar. The authorities have beefed up security in all the sensitive places of capital Srinagar and other sensitive areas of Kashmir valley to prevent protests and violence on the call of separatists tomorrow.

Earlier joint Resistance Leadership in a statement said that army and security forces were killing innocent civilians in Kashmir in the name of anti militancy operations. They mentioned the killing of Lady in shopian village today and the killing of civilian driver on saturday evening at Kupwara in North kashmir. They have appealed people not to come out and observe complete hartal.

Meanwhile independent MLA Engineer Rasheed from langate said that mainstream political parties were responsible for the killing of innocent Kashmiri people at the hands of security forces. He said that all parties including ruling PDP and opposition national conference should unite and stop such killings in Kashmir by asking new Delhi to stop this bloodbath in Kashmir valley.
