Div Com reviews functioning of FCS&CA Deptt

SRINAGAR, : Divisional Commissioner Baseer Ahmad Khan today reviewed the functioning of Department of Food, Civil Supplies & Consumer Affairs (FCS&CA) and stressed on the need to provide up-to-date service and quick redressal of all grievances.

The meeting was attended by Director FCS&CA and other officials. The meeting was informed that there is adequate stock of food grains available in Kashmir region and there is no shortage of any essential commodity anywhere. It was given that more than eight lakh quintals of rice are present in the stocks and similar comfortable position is for other essential commodities. The Div Com directed the officials to ensure that the food grains are distributed by the tenth of every month.

The Div Com said that District Development Commissioners of every district will check the stock and supply position of essential commodities in their domain every fifteen days. He said that at present no ration ghat is empty and similar position should be maintained.

The Director FCS&CA presented a power point presentation wherein he gave details of the progress n various sectors in the department. He said that 493 Fair Price Shops have been made functional and more are in the offing.

With regards to redressal of grievances the Director said that the department has published helpline numbers wherein people can register their complaints. He said that out of 409 complaints received from April to December, 387 have been disposed and action taken against officials who have found to be guilty. The Div Com directed the officials to make a comprehensive report on complaints and submit it to their office.

The meeting was informed about the pace of digitization, instillation of POS machines, digital weighing scales and other initiatives being taken for the benefit of consumers.
