PHE Minister inaugurates WSS Zain u Din Wali at Aishmuqam

ANANTNAG, – Minister for PHE and I&FC, Sham Lal Chaudhary  inaugurated and commissioned the Water Supply Scheme Zain u Din Wali here at Aishmuqam today.

The inaugural function was attended by Member Legislative Assembly Pahalgam, Altaf Ahmad Wani, District Development Commissioner, Mohammad Younis Malik, Chief Engineer PHE, Abdul Wahid, Chief Engineer I&FC Shahnawaz Ahmad, Superintending Engineers and Executive  Engineers of these departments and other concerned officers.

The scheme will cater to a population of 13066 souls which has been constructed at an estimated cost of Rs 892 lakh, of which, Rs 710 lakh have been released so far. The WSS is being fed by Langna Nallah at Wadbal and Langnai.

The scheme will be feeding 7 habitations including Grend Aish, Zigpora, Sajnay Colony, Chek Jumoo, Shaldraged, Pimbdara, Iram Colony and a large number of floating and nomadic populations.

Meanwhile, the Minister also interacted with several delegations of locals and casual labourers who presented their demands before him for redressal. He assured the people that their demands will be genuinely considered and necessary measures shall be taken to address them.

Later, the Minister also chaired a review meeting of PHE and I&FC Departments and took stock of snow clearance preparations in the area. He also reviewed the status of directions passed by Chief Minister regarding provision of drinking water, flood control and irrigation facilities at Dak Bungalow, Khanabal.

The Minister was apprised of the status of various schemes through a power point presentation including PHE Minimum Needs Programme (MNP) besides WSSs of Kehribal-Rambirpora, WSS South  Campus Kashmir University, Kulan Khushipora, Chondpora-Palpora.

A brief description was also given on the flood control measures, augmentation and plugging of various zamindari kulls.

The DDC sought Minister’s intervention in taking up matter with the Railway authorities for providing water facilities to the habitations of Vessu. He also requested the Minister for adequate funding to the long pending water supply schemes particularly those taken up under NRDWP and regional water supply schemes.

With regard to defunct filtration plants, the Minister directed the engineers to furnish list of filtration plants which need to be addressed on priority. Besides, he directed the concerned engineers to expedite the execution works of various schemes so that they may be completed within the stipulated time.
