Protests rock Kupwara after killing of Asif

Widespread protests are being witnessed in the Kral pora area of Kupwara in North Kashmir after army allegedly killed a young boy by mistake near his home.
Police identified the victim as Asif Iqbal son of Mohammad Iqbal resident of Kral pora who is driver by profession and said that army mistook him as militant. SSP Kupwara Sham Sher Hussain told media that it was a killing of mistaken identity. Locals alleged that army killed Asif when he came out of his home to start his vehicle and claimed that they did not allow them to take him to the hospital which resulted in his death by blood loss.
Army authorities in Srinagar have regretted the killing of the young boy and termed it as unfortunate. Army said that initial reports with them suggest that the driver was asked to stop but he didn’t and was fired upon. Assuring fair probe army said that in this killing anyone found guilty would be punished.
Violent protests were going on in Kral pora and adjacent areas even after police and paramilitary forces were using forces and district authorities of Kupwara have snapped internet services to stop swelling of protests.
