Veeri conducts surprise inspection of SDM, Tehsil offices in Jammu

JAMMU, – Minister for Revenue, Disaster Management, Relief Rehabilitation & Reconstruction and Parliamentary Affairs, Abdul Rehman Veeri today conducted surprise inspection at Sub-Divisional Magistrate and Tehsil Office in Jammu and scrutinized records of different sections of the offices.

The Minister was accompanied by Commissioner Secretary Revenue, Shahid Inayatullah and Deputy Commissioner Jammu, Kumar Rajeev Ranjan.

Veeri first visited SDM and Tehsildar office in Janipur and enquired about the progress of issuance of Permanent Resident Certificates (PRCs) and other nature of works at the SDM and Tehsil Office.

The Minister also inspected the registers at the office and asked the concerned to maintain them regularly by putting in all the entries neat, clean and dependable. He also directed to expedite the process of clearing pending mutation cases besides carrying out work of retrieval of encroached state land in their respective jurisdiction.

Veeri also interacted with public visiting these offices and sought feedback from them regarding their functioning. He personally enquired from the people of the purpose they visited to this office and listened to their issues and feedback. The Minister asked the SDM to ensure redressal of the issues raised by the people on priority and to deliver the services in a time bound manner under Public Service Guarantee Act (PSGA). ‘Public visiting the offices with their cases/issues should be provided proper guidance regarding all requisite documents for timely delivery of services to them’, the Minister asked the officers.

He asked the SDM to conduct filed visits to listen people grievances related to the revenue department so that can be redressed properly.

Later, the Minister visited Tehsil office in Nagrota and conducted detailed inspection in different sections involved in issuance of PRCs, category certificate, income certificate and other important services related to land and revenue including clearing pending mutation cases, retrieval of state land etc.

Veeri also inspected the Aadhar Enrollment process at the office and asked the concerned to expedite the work. He also directed to conduct special camps at far off places and Kashmiri Migrants Township in Jagti so that people living at these places can be enrolled for Aadhar.

He also interacted with the public and sought their feedback regarding their issues and working of the office. The Minister asked Tehsildar to ensure prompt service delivery to the people with regular monitoring of people’s issues besides improving the work culture and instilling transparency in the working system.

Veeri directed the officials to maintain register and display their touring and office days for the convenience of general public. He further directed to ensure that office displays board highlighting services rendered by them under Public Service Guarantee Act.

Speaking on the occasion, the Minister said that following public complaints regarding negligent and unsympathetic attitude of some revenue officials towards the general public and alleged lack of work culture in these offices, we have decided to conduct surprise inspections of revenue offices and similar kind of exercise will be carried out throughout the state.

“Revenue department has a close relation with the public and it is sole duty of everyone working in this department to work with responsibility to live up to the expectations of common people, the Minister said”.

The Minister said that the lackadaisical approach of any revenue official would not be accepted at all. Performance of every office would be monitored and appropriate action will be taken against those who do not takes his job seriously, he added.

Veeri stressed upon the revenue officers to ensure prompt and effective redress to the grievances of the people in an effective manner and to bring in work culture in the offices. ‘It is our duty to provide justice to the people who have great expectations from us’, he added.
