Govt to install more tube-wells in Kandi areas: Sham Choudhary

JAMMU, : Saying that the Government is on the proposal to install more tube wells to make sure adequate supply of safe drinking water to people especially living in kandi areas of the State, Minister for PHE, Irrigation and Flood Control, Sham Lal Choudhary said that the issue would be taken up with the Central Ground Water Commission to examine the feasibility of availability of underground water at the places.

The Minister was interacting with a deputation from village Kangar of Bhalwal block which called on him at his office chamber today.

The Minister said that the Government is well aware of the problems of people of Kandi areas on account of water supply. He said that the Government has also formulated a comprehensive plan to make functional the defunct Water Supply Schemes in the State so that adequate water supply is ensured.

Sham Choudhary called the Chief Engineer, PHE, Jammu and Superintending Engineer, Hydraulic to sort out the issue as early as possible, saying that provision of adequate potable water to people is the prime duty of government.

Later, the Minister along with team of officers visited Water Supply Scheme (WSS) Bhalwal and village Kangar to take stock of the situation.

The Minister was informed that the water is supplied to village Kangar in 3-Phases. The work on the Water Supply Scheme Kangar Kalan is going-on, besides the work with regard to PDD is pending to make the Scheme functional and with its completion the adequate supply of water would be ensured in the area, the Minister was informed.

Directing the concerned for ensuring water supply to village Kangar with tankers, the Minister asked the concerned for taking up the issue with Central Groundwater Commission to ascertain the feasibility of water to install/ dug tube well in the area. He directed the concerned to take up the issue of execution of power work in the WSS Kangar Kalan.  He also directed the concerned for deploying local staff of village Kangar for night duty at WSS Bhalwal so that water supply to village Kangar is ensured at their own.
