Agri Deptt organises farmers’ tour

SRINAGAR, : Director Agriculture Kashmir, Syed Altaf Aijaz Andrabi today flagged off a group of 60 farmers of different districts of central Kashmir to Jammu Division, on a five days intra-state exposure tour from Hyderpora early in the morning.

During the five-day tour organised by Department of Agriculture Kashmir, under centrally sponsored scheme “Support to the State Extension Reforms” (ATMA). The farmers are scheduled to visit Pathology, Entomology and Oloriculture Division of SKUAST-J for Integrated Management of Diseases and Pest of various vegetable and other crops, besides College of Veterinary Sciences and KVK R.S. Pora to get firsthand experience of Fish Culture, Rearing of Cattle & Sheep and Vermi composting.

The farmers will also attend interaction sessions with scientists, field experts and their counterparts from Jammu Division to assess opportunities, requirements and benefits for adopting modern technology on crop production.

On the occasion, interacting with the farmers Director Agriculture Kashmir impressed upon them to fully explore and seize the opportunity by equipping themselves with latest knowledge and technical knowhow for increasing production and productivity.

Andrabi said that one more dimension of organising such type of events is that it provides an opportunity to exchange social and cultural values between the farmers of different backgrounds and results into the strengthening the bond of love and brotherhood between the farmers of different places. He said that Department is committed to upgrade living standard of farming community of the state.
