Div Com reviews progress of work on CUK

SRINAGAR, : Divisional Commissioner Kashmir, Baseer Ahmad Khan today reviewed the progress on the development work of Central University of Kashmir (CUK) that is being constructed at Ganderbal.

The meeting was attended by Vice Chancellor CUK, Registrar CUK, ADC Ganderbal and other concerned.

The Divisional Commissioner was informed that the work on the campus is going on smoothly and the prefab structures will be handed over to university authorities by March 31 next year. He directed the executing agency NBCC to finish the area-grading and earth filling work of the land within the stipulated time.

The Vice-Chancellor informed that the old Physical College building handed over to CUK at Ganderbal is already functional and MPeD and some skill specific courses have been started. He said that the construction work of some buildings has been undertaken by the engineering wing of CUK which are also expected to be completed within the deadline.

He said that the area under development at CUK is facing water logging problem to which Div Com directed the I&FC Department to explore the area for digging of a channel to drain out the excess area.

The Div Com directed the DDC Ganderbal to continuously monitor the construction progress and furnish a progress report every week. He also reviewed the progress of providing alternate land for further development of CUK.

He also directed the revenue authorities to provide a list of the people whose land has been acquired for the construction of CUK so that final decision will be taken about providing employment to one of the family members of the landowners.

The Div Com further asked the officials and contractors to work in coordination and finish the mega project on time.
