Police in a statement said during his interaction with the respectable citizens of Kulgam District, Vaid hailed the support of Kulgam people in fight against drugs and also sought their assistance in curbing other social crimes in the district. DGP promised to look into the grievances put forth by the people attending the meeting.
The DGP while chairing the Darbar of Jawans at Police Line Kulgam said that he is proud of his officers and Jawans who have done excellent work in Kulgam and elsewhere particularly in South Kashmir and hoped that policemen will continue to work with same dedication and enthusiasm to restored peace and normalcy in the valley.
While referring to the welfare measure, DGP said that welfare of policemen and their family has always been on priority and added that many welfare schemes has been introduced in recent times. He said more welfare schemes including increase in ex-gratia at par with central security forces, Rank promotions of Head constable to inspector have been submitted to the government and hoped that these will be considered.
Earlier, DGP inaugurated Gymnasium and DySP DAR office at District Police Lines. While dedicating the Gymnasium to the Jawans, DGP advised the policemen to take care of their health by taking balanced diet, yoga and other physical activities.
Vaid later chaired a high level security meeting with officers of South Kashmir. While addressing the meeting, Vaid stressed upon the officers to continue their excellent coordination among all security agencies to deal with militants and other anti nation elements.
The DGP directed the officers to keep major focus on the drugs and ensure that people involved in the illicit trade of drugs are booked.
