Rahul likely to be elevated to Cong prez after polls

Rahul Gandhi is likely to be elevated as Congress president after the two upcoming assembly polls in Gujarat and Himachal Pradesh, say reports. At a recently held meeting of Congress general secretaries on demonetisation at the AICC headquarters, Rahul Gandhi, who is the party’s vice-president was urged to set a date for his elevation to the party’s top job. Top Congress leaders told Rahul Gandhi not to wait for the Assembly polls. But this may not come to pass.

Assembly elections in Gujarat will be held on two days, December 9 for 89 assembly seats and December 14 for 93 seats, while voting for the 68-seat Himachal Pradesh assembly will take place on 9 November and the results will be declared on 18 December. (Agencies)
