Tral—Lack of basic facilities in Government High School of Mandoora Village in South Kashmir’s Tral sub district is adversely affecting the studies of students.

“The educational institute has no fencing around and no water facility available besides dilapidated road, which gives tough time to students,” the locals told Kashmir Observer, adding the area comes under wildlife zone.

The educational institution according to the school management was upgraded a month back with new building outside the village (3kms) , but it still lacks the basic amenities like water, electricity, roads, fencing and other facilities.

The parents have expressed resentment against the authorities for failing to provide basic facilities to their children and said that due to lack of these things “Our children suffers all the time”.

“The students, particularly the girls and the staff are facing huge inconvenience due to the absence of water in lavatories,” the teachers said. They said that the students have to visit the neighbouring areas to drink water, which gives them tough time as the road leading the school is also in pathetic state.

“With the educational institution lacking drinking water facility, the students either have to get water from homes or have to drink it from the neighbouring areas,” the teachers added.

According to the locals, they apprised the senior functionaries about the lack of basic amenities many a times. “However, our repeated pleas have fallen on deaf ears and the students are still suffering,” the locals added.

Meanwhile, students while talking to Kashmir Observer, have requested the higher authorities to personally look into the matter as early as possible.
