Sumji residence raided by NIA

National Investigation Agency (NIA) on Thursday raided the residence of Hurriyat Conference (g) General Secretary Ghulam Nabi Sumji at Bijbehara in southern part of Kashmir.

Sources said that a team of NIA alongwith a contingent of police and other forces raided the residence of Sumji and started searches.

A team of NIA is also conducting searches at another Hurriyat Leader, Agha Syed Hassan’s residence in Budgam.

Sources said that the investigation agency is also conducting searches in Kupwara district in northern part of Kashmir.

The NIA raids on the residence of Sumji and Agha followed the announcement of resistance leaders to court arrest at NIA headquarters in New Delhi on September 9 against “NIA terror”.

NIA is investigating a case of alleged funding in Kashmir registered on May 30.

Seven pro-freedom leaders, a businessman and two youth including a photojournalist have already been arrested by the Indian investigation agency in connection of the case.

Another Hurriyat leader and a businessman have been arrested by Enforcement Directorate (ED). Eight of the arrested persons are languishing in Tihar jail, Delhi while as four are in NIA and ED custody.
