Lolab tense after youth allegedly detained by army goes missing

Tension gripped Devar Lolab area of Kupwara district in north Kashmir on Friday after a civilian picked up by army along with two other youth went missing.

Reports said that locals gathered near the Devar army camp today to seek whereabouts of the missing youth.

Locals alleged that army men of a local unit on Thursday evening picked up three civilians, identified as Nasrullah Khan, Manzoor Ahmad Khan and Jalal Din Khan.

They said that two of the detained persons had reached their homes, but the whereabouts of the third person were not known.

“Both the released persons had been beaten severely. Following gruesome injury to one of the released person, he has been shifted to Srinagar hospital,” hospital sources said.

SSP Kupwara Shamsher Hussain said that army has denied of making any arrests.

“We are investigating the whole matter. So far army has denied any arrests,” said Hussain.
