Srinagar:-The Students representing Government Degree College of Islamabad were allegedly thrashed by Government Forces in Arwani Village of Southern Kashmir on Wednesday.

The Students who are representing the college in the Inter College tournament organized by Kashmir University were travelling towards Srinagar for their second game against GDC Baramulla. “Among Hundreds of Vehicles, only our vehicle was stopped near Bijbehara by troopers and we were asked to take the Arwani route, Perhaps because the troopers did not want to thrash us in the public glare.

Then on reaching near Arwani, our vehicle was stopped and we were all lined up and our phones were checked,” a team member said on the condition of anonymity. He said that the troopers rounded them up and started thrashed them severely while accusing them of burning the Police Tents and banners on 23 August 2017. He also said that all the team members kept pleading of their innocence, but the thrashing only intensified with that.

Two of the team members were beaten ruthlessly, he told ‘The Kashmiriyat.’ “These unprovoked tactics against Players who represent a Government College Team can only intensify one’s behavior to an extreme,’ he said. He appealed the Police to investigate the matter.
