All gates of Jamia Masjid were locked by government forces while all roads leading to the historic mosque were blocked with concertina wires, reports said.

Curfew was imposed in parts of Downtown Srinagar to prevent people from assembling at the mosque.

Hurriyat (M) chairman Mirwaiz Umar Farooq who addresses the faithful every Friday continues to remain under house detention.

Joint Resistance Leadership has called for “peaceful protests” after prayers today against the ruling of a military court in Machhil fake encounter case and “persecution” of resistance groups by the government.
