Widening the ambit of its investigations in the funding case, the National Investigation Agency has issued summons to 30 more people, including Nayeem Geelani, the elder son of Hurriyat Conference chairman Syed Ali Geelani, even as the probe agency said seven arrested Hurriyat leaders would undergo a lie detector test.

Inspector general of police, NIA, Alok Mittal, while talking to Greater Kashmir, said: “Geelani’s son and 29 others, including stone-pelters, instigators and middlemen, have been summoned.”

He said the already-arrested seven separatist leaders will be subjected to lie detector test. “That will be done after proper procedure,” he said.

The arrested leaders include Nayeem Khan, Bitta Karate, Shahid Ul Islam, Altaf Ahmad Shah alias Altaf Fantosh (son-in-law of Geelani), Ayaz Akbar, Peer Saifullah and Raja Merajuddin Kalwal. All of them have been remanded to 10- day NIA custody.

The senior police official said probe agency is also examining “fund links from Dubai.”

The agency had registered a case on May 30 this year against separatists for allegedly raising, receiving and collecting funds through various illegal means, including Hawala, for funding separatist and militant activities in Kashmir and for causing disruption in Kashmir by way of pelting security forces with stones, burning schools, damaging public property and “waging war against India.”
