Naeem Akhtar tours Sonwar constituency

SRINAGAR

Minister for Public Works, Naeem Akhtar, today held an extensive tour of Sonwar constituency, wherein he reviewed the construction of various developmental works.  

The Minister was accompanied by MLA Sonwar Mohammed Ashraf Mir, Chief Engineer PHE and I&FC and other concerned officials.

During his visit to Gujjar Basti, Mulnar and Dachigam, the Minister said that the main road leading to this area would be macadamised soon. He appealed the people to cooperate in removing the encroachments so that the new road would be wide enough for plying of smooth traffic. Akhtar said that the good road would give a fillip to the local economy as the fruits and vegetables can be easily transported to markets.

The Minister said that the Sonwar constituency has a huge potential as far as  tourism, agriculture and fish rearing are concerned. He appealed the youth to come forward and benefit from various government schemes by setting up their own income generating units.

The Minister also directed the officials to make proper provision of drains so that the runoff water from higher altitudes doesn’t enter houses and flows downwards in a proper channel. At Gandtal Dara, the Minister also issued the directions to complete the work of laying the PHE pipes before macadamising the road.

The Minister also inspected the macadamisation of a Link Road at Harwan and expressed his satisfaction at the quality of the work. Enroute the Minister met various delegations who apprised him of their problems. He directed the concerned officials to redress the issues at the earliest.
