Srinagar: Government on Friday disallowed congregational prayers in historic Jamia Masjid for the fourth consecutive Friday today.
While all the roads leading to Jamia Masjid ion Old City were blocked by erecting concertina wires, gates of the Masjid were also locked.
Earlier, government imposed curfew in the area to stop people from reaching to the Masjid.
A large posse of police have been deployed in and around the Masjid.
Meanwhile, Kashmir’s head priest, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq lashed out at the Peoples Democratic Party.
He took to twitter and tweeted: “Strict curfew imposed,Friday prayers again disallowed for the fourth consecutive week at #JamaMasjid.PDP has completely brazened it out….”
