J&K government fixes rate for sacrificial livestock

On the demand of the general public in Kashmir valley, the J & K government has fixed the rates for the sacrificial livestock ahead of Eid-ul-Adha.

According to the government notification the rates Delhi Walla and Merino Cross varieties of Sheep have been fixed at Rs 310 per kg. Similarly for the Bakerwal and Kashmiri varieties of sacrificial sheep the rate has been fixed as 295/KG. For the sacrificial goats the rates have been fixed as 285/KG.

The authorities have told the media that they will strictly monitor the rates in the markets of Kashmir valley and they will not allow any kind of rise in these fixed rates.

On the Eid-ul-Adha in Kashmir valley thousands of people purchase the sacrificial livestock for the purpose of qurbani. The government has also appealed to people not to give above these fixed rates to the sellers of these sacrificial animals.

The biggest livestock mandi on the eve of Eid-ul-Adha is always witnessed in Eidgah Srinagar where thousands of people purchase the sacrificial sheep for qurbani.
