Tourism industry in Jammu and Kashmir is trying to pick up after the covid lockdowns and the administration is also trying to streamline the trade as the tourists have started coming here after a long time.
In order to address the complaints of overcharging recently Director Tourism Kashmir chaired a rate fixation meeting of services, products so that the rates are fixed and there are no complaints from the tourists.
He impressed upon stakeholders to play their role and sought their cooperation.
He held a meeting of Chief Executive Officers and Resort Officers of various destinations and other officers of the Department to review and fix the rates of various services and products being provided by tourism services providers.
He took a detailed review of the services and products being provided at various destinations like accommodation, ponies, shikaras, sledges etc, their present rate pattern and the impact of Covid-19 on their services.
The meeting was informed that this year due to a severe second wave of COVID-19, very limited business was transacted by the service providers leaving little scope for any revision or review.
Addressing the meeting, he underscored the need for early fixation of rates for all the services so that the same are notified well in advance and no tourist faces any inconvenience on this account.
He impressed upon the tourism stakeholders to play their role in stabilizing the rates of tourism products so that the prospective visitors do not get the feeling that they have been overcharged or under facilitated. He sought cooperation from all tourism players in this regard.
