Horticulture Week
In order to give a boost to the Horticulture sector in Jammu and Kashmir the government has not only started many schemes but have intensified their campaign to distribute high yielding plants among the orchardists so that in the long run they get better prices of their fruit from different markets.
Recently LG Manoj Sinha while starting the Horticulture Week has asked his officers to go for a massive campaign to distribute high density plantation among the farmers in Jammu and Kashmir so that their lives change for the better.
He initiated first-ever massive High-Density plantation drive by planting saplings at Akhnoor, targeting 25 lakh plants in Jammu Division. This area of Jammu division has a lot of potential for the high density fruit plants and if the target is completed Jammu will also add to the rural economy of the people.
He also laid e-foundation for High-Density Mega Plant-Nursery; launches ‘Jammu Horticulture Mobile App’ & market linkage scheme ‘Parvaz’ for farmers.
LG during this Horticulture Week has called upon agricultural scientists & researchers to explore new possibilities and guide farmers to increase the production of fruits & vegetables amidst the changing climatic & environmental conditions.
The government has also decided to set up more high density plant nurseries in Jammu and Kashmir in order to give boost to the distribution of such plant saplings to the farmers here.
