The rural areas of Jammu and Kashmir are facing a steep rise in the spread of the corona virus even as the administration grappled with an acute shortage of vaccine to inoculate the vulnerable population.

Most of the rural areas are witnessing the spread of the covid-19 virus. According to a recent media report in Khag area of Budgam, the positivity rate is as high as 30 per cent, media reports quoting health officials said.

In the villages covid-19 virus is spreading and the government is trying to fight it out by releasing funds at the level of panchayat to create the five bed capacity at the panchayat level so that the spread is arrested to some extent.

Most of the people infected with corona virus are approaching the health officials and many of the patients are going untreated because of the rush and the lack of bed capacity in the rural health infrastructure.

The government should take steps on war footing to arrest the trend in the rural areas as the number of fatalities has increased due to this infection.

There is a silver lining in the dark clouds of the infection as the government released the data and claimed that more than two lac people have recovered from this infection so far.
