Many political parties of Jammu and Kashmir have reacted to the recent decisions of the government including the price hike in fuels. National Conference, one of the main political parties in Jammu and Kashmir has asked the government to reconsider its decisions on these issues and save the common people from the financial impact of their decisions.
The Jammu and Kashmir National Conference expressed concern over the hike in fuel prices of petrol, diesel and cooking gas cylinders pointing out that the move will affect the poor and middle class here.
The National Conference said that hike in the fuel prices is bound to have a cascading effect on others sectors of economy, Any fluctuation in the prices of petrol and diesel impacts the production and transportation cost of various items including edibles, and vegetables and this will surely have an impact on the price rise and it would be very costly affair for poor people.
Historically, the price of petrol and diesel in the country was regulated; the government was involved in deciding the retail price. The deregulation of the pricing by the government in 2010, and 2014 has left it to the mercy of oil marketing companies to determine the price of these products, National Conference claimed in its statement.
There is no denying the fact that the price rise in petrol and diesel will result in escalation in the cost of every product especially the essential items in the markets of Jammu and Kashmir.
