Mehbooba Mufti visited the home of one of the slain cops who were killed in a shootout on Friday at Baghat Chowk on Airport Srinagar road. She said that the dialogue between India and Pakistan was the only way out to stop such innocent killings in Jammu and Kashmir.

Former chief minister and PDP chief, who have been accused by BJP leadership of trying to breach peace, visited Logripora, Aishmuqam to express sympathies with the bereaved family of Constable Suhail Ahmad.

Talking to reporters at the residence of Sohail Mehbooba said that only dialogue can end such tragedies which visit the homes of Kashmir quite often and the government should initiate steps so that violence does not spread.

The Government of India must think about how long people of Jammu and Kashmir have to suffer and witness coffins in their homes and around them. She expressed concern that the young boys especially the teenagers are becoming the victims of violence and it needs courage from the central government to stop the violence at its root and dialogue with Pakistan is the only way out.

While talking about Suhail, who was killed in a militant attack in Baghat Srinagar, she said that his father was also killed when he was just four years old and such tragedies have visited dozens of homes in Kashmir..

“If Pakistan is spreading violence in Kashmir, then Govt of India must at least start a dialogue with Pakistan to end violence in Kashmir as the graveyards of Kashmir are full now”, Mehbooba was quoted by local news agencies saying about it at Aishmuqam.
