Sudden shutdown in Srinagar over the envoy visit for second running day

Lal Chowk and its vicinity observed shutdown for the second day as a delegation of foreign envoys, including ambassadors and diplomats from the European Union who are on a two day visit to Jammu and Kashmir.

Shops in the city’s central hub were shut, however, traffic movement was close to normal and even the public transport was moving on to all the routes.

However, the shutdown was being observed in the commercial stretch of “Maisuma, Koker Bazar and up to the clock tower in Lal Chowk”.

Yesterday, several parts of Srinagar’s downtown also remained shut while the security forces were deployed in strength especially in Nowhatta.
