Vaccination plan
The Government of Jammu and Kashmir has held several meetings in the recent past to prepare itself for the possible vaccination against covid-19 infection.
Covid-19 is very much over us and everyday hundreds of people are getting infected. Although the death rate is low, in these winter months people are finding it very difficult to cope up with this infection and save other members of the family.
Social distancing and other Sop’s are being announced by the government on the ground in Kashmir valley, most of the people are not adhering to these norms making themselves vulnerable to this infection.
Recently Chief Secretary, B V R Subrahmanyam, and Director General of Police, Dilbagh Singh along with Chief Secretaries of all the States/UTs participated in the meeting in connection with preparations for being ready to vaccinate people.
While reviewing the public health response to COVID-19, Cabinet Secretary informed that at present, 3 companies are frontrunners in developing COVID-19 vaccines in India- which are currently in the third phase of clinical trials and will be shortly available for usage.
As such, he asked the States/UTs to develop respective databases to prioritize various groups of people based on their exposure to the disease, starting from healthcare workers both in government and private establishments, frontline workers including armed forces, home guards, police, volunteers, municipal workers, etc, the prioritized age group of persons above the age of 50 years, and persons with co-morbidities.
