When the irrigation and flood control department did the beautification of Jhelum bund from zero bridge to Lal chowk, creating vintage points, parks and walkways, J&K Tourism department also spent huge amounts in the beautification by making electrification of the bund along with some other works.

While the electric poles with costly bulbs and small transformers were installed on both sides of the bund, only after a few months of their installation they were uprooted at many places on the bund with authorities not bothered to even set them right.

Similarly, the tourism department created some assets on the Jhelum bund like Peerzo restaurant and coffee shop at a huge cost and they stand closed for the reasons known to the department only.

The government has no time to have a look at how the public property is being vandalized in Srinagar city and they have only figures to share of what they have spent without knowing the ground realities.
