Friday is now a routine for the government to impose restrictions in Srinagar City and cripple life. It is very rare to witness Friday prayers in Jamia masjid Srinagar on Friday. Any statement of JRL for protest or for Jalsa is followed by restrictions by the authorities. On Friday railway authorities as a precautionary measures have suspended railway service from Banihal to Anantanag on police advisory.
Authorities sealed main Chowk in Anantanag toe moon Friday morning and imposed restrictions in the adjacent areas to foil proposed Seperatists rally in South Kashmir today. The call was given by three senior Seperatists leaded together including Syed Ali Shah Geelani, Yasin Malik and Mirwaiz Umar Farooq to bring attention on the continued killings and harassment in South Kashmir under operation all out.
Police imposed severe restrictions in Srinagar city under the jurisdiction of 7 police stations to prevent people to march to Anantanag to join Seperatists rally. Police and paramilitary forces have sealed main mosque of Srinagar Kashmir known as Jamia Masjid to prevent Friday prayers in this mosque as it is always followed by protests.
IGP Kashmir range Muneer Ahmad Khan told VOV that they have taken all the precautionary measures to stop protests and violence on the call of Seperatists today. He said that for the area domination in sensitive places they have deployed additional police and paramilitary troops in full riot gear to prevent protests and violence post Friday prayers.
