With persistent dry weather in Kashmir valley burning of falling chinar leaves is adding to air pollution in the Srinagar city and its outskirts. As the weather man has predicted some relief on November 14&15 people are waiting for rains to give them relief from the viral infections also.

Talking to experts VOV has been told that Sringar city has already registered suspended particulate matter beyond permissible limits. They have warned that if people in the villages will continue burning fallen leaves and biomass the air quality will dip further.

Recently state pollution control board in a report has said that air in Srinagar city is polluted to dangerous level. The report has attributed the bad quality of air to massive construction work going on including fly over in Srinagar. The report has called for check of vehicular  movement in Srinagar and said that immission was also contributing to air pollution in the city.

Recently the government has appealed to people not to burn biomass and fallen leaves and save the children in Kashmir valley from the bad impact of air pollution. The brother of state CM who is incharge of grievances  cell Tassaduk Mufti recently said that burning of fallen leaves and biomass is banned in Kashmir under environmental laws. He asked the different wings of the government to act against the violators  of these laws who are making people in general and children in particular vulnerable to the harmful impact of air pollution.

As the people in Kashmir know that government can do little to change the growing air pollution level they are waiting for the intervention of God to send rains and snow to break this harmful cycle here.
